An Asian e-university for all


ASIA e University (AeU) is a dual-mode international university set in Asia by Asians for Asia. Its establishment is an initiative of Malaysia, as the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) countries' prime mover for e-education, with the support of 30 member countries as agreed at the Islamabad 2005 and Doha 2006 ACD ministerial meetings.
AeU will collaborate with institutions of higher learning and training centres in the 31 ACD countries to offer academic programmes and training to all participating countries.
The programmes and products are focused on affordability, accessibility, and marketability, and characterised by their flexibility, quality, and relevance.
AeU offers a wide array of courses ranging from short certificates courses to bachelors, masters and doctorates, in tune with market demands and niche.
Courses on offer now are from the School of Management, School of Education & Cognitive Science, and School of Information Computer Technology.
AeU's forthcoming programmes in the 2009/2010 session include the BBA (hons), MSc (by research), MMgt, Asian executive MBA, executive master's programmes and the DBA under the School of Management; BEd (hons) and MEd under the School of Education and Cognitive Science; and BICT (hons) and executive master's programmes under the School of ICT.
AeU is also supported by three other schools. The School of Graduate Studies is a "one-stop" customer-oriented centre for anyone interested in postgraduate studies at AeU, as well as current graduate students.
The School of Professional & Executive Education (SPEED) is responsible for provide training programmes and executive courses.
The Centre for Vocational and Technical Studies caters for pre- university, undergraduate and graduate students, offering vocational, engineering, technical courses. It offers vocational and technical courses at certificate and diploma levels to meet the needs of technical sub-professionals.
The pedagogy used at AeU employs two main modes of learning in the delivery of courses, which are the face-to-face or conventional approach which combines conventional teaching and learning and online interactions (e-learning mode), and the blended and online approach which combines face-to-face interactions, online interactions (e-learning mode) and independent study.
The entry requirements for the bachelor's degree is a diploma with minimum CGPA 2.00, matriculation or foundation with minimum CGPA 2.00, STPM with at least a C grade in two subjects, A-levels with at least C grade in three subjects, or International Baccalaureate (IB) with minimum 24 points.
For the master's degree, an applicant must have a bachelor's degree in the relevant field or other fields recognised by the AeU senate, or an open entry qualification recognised by Higher Education Ministry or other qualifications recognised by the AeU senate.
Applicants to all doctoral programmes at AeU must possess a master's degree in related field or other fields recognised by the AeU senate, or other qualifications recognised by the AeU senate. Applicants with working experiences are preferred.
To enrol for the bachelor programmes prospective candidates must be at least 21 years old on Jan 1 of the application year and possess PMR or its equivalent. For the master's programmes, candidates must be at least 35 years old on Jan 1 of the application year and possess STPM/matriculation/diploma or its equivalent.
