KLIUC builds on experience

THE Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC), formerly known as Ikram College of Technology (iCT), was upgraded to a university college in 2003.
Explaining the rationale for inserting "infrastructure" in its name, KLIUC President Professor Dr Mahadzer Mahmud said: "We want to build on our experience of being the former Research and Training Institute of Public Works Department. Furthermore, infrastructure engineering is our core business and we want to become a specialised university college in this area."
There are five schools: Engineering Infrastructure, Business Infrastructure, IT Infrastructure, Linguistic Infrastructure & Liberal Arts and Science & Materials.
Although the status and name have been changed, KLIUC still retains its motto "For Knowledge, For Humanity". This motto mirrors the mission of the university to provide not only excellent education but also produce graduates who are competent individuals.
As it has university college status, KLIUC awards its own foundation, diploma and degree courses. New programmes at the master's and PhD levels will be offered in the future.
The minimum admission requirements for KLIUC Foundation programmes are five relevant SPM/O-level credits or their equivalent. Once a student registers for any Foundation programme in KLIUC, he is guaranteed a place in the degree programme, provided he obtains a CGPA of 2.00 and above at the end of his studies.
Students who obtain three SPM or O-level credits may apply for KLIUC diploma programmes. Upon completion of KLIUC diploma programmes, they can continue their degree at KLIUC or pursue their degree overseas at KLIUC partner universities. The entry requirement for KLIUC degree programmes is STPM with two relevant principles. Those with a Certificate in Matriculation, or KLIUC Foundation programme, or a recognised diploma or other equivalent qualifications may also apply.
KLIUC also provides loans based on merit through Majlis Amanah Rakyat and the National Higher Education Fund. Student intakes are carried out three times a year: April, June and November.
