MMU Graduate Wins eGenting Programming Competition

A recent MMU graduate from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST) was announced the eGenting Programming Competition 2010's first prize winner. Mr. Chua Ket Peng received his prize on 22 January 2011, for the competition that took place at Wisma Genting in Kuala Lumpur on 23 October 2010.

Chua topped a pool of 168 participants coming from all universities and colleges around Malaysia. He bagged the RM 6,000.00 cash prize, beating fellow programmer Chong Han Liang (KBU International College) and Choo Kwak Liang (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia) who were named the first and second runners up, respectively.

Another promising talent from MMU, Mr. Mostafa Abedi who is currently an undergraduate from the Faculty of Information Technology won the Merit Award.

Also competing in the contest were participants from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC), Taylor’s University, INTI International University, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), and Sunway University.

The eGenting Programming Competition 2010 is an annual event organized by the Research and Development Department of eGenting. The event is aimed at revealing the current industry programming level to students and academic staff as well as serve as a standard that graduates need to meet if they want to become internationally competitive.

The annual competition is open to everyone except employees of the Genting Group.
